The "After
Thanksgiving Invitational Halibut Classic" is entering its 12th year. What started as a small, $20 per boat, winner
take all, gentleman's bet amongst 4 friends in 2000 has now grown into one of San Diego's premiere halibut tournaments
with tons of talent and a huge focus on fun.
.
During
that competition, Mike (tournament director) went on to lose what was believed to be a 40 pound Halibut when his partner
Vince Dalmaso was hoisting the big butt over the rail and she went ballistic, breaking the line and regaining her freedom.
Mike and Vince ended up winning when Vince caught a 17 pound Halibut later that day.
.
From this day forward, the "After Thanksgiving Invitational Halibut Classic" was born. The tournament was structured to become a close group of old and new friends alike and the goal is to strive for the
same teams year after year while allowing new teams in until the maximum capacity is reached. .
